Brought to you by NAFTA...

Inevitably, those darn Mexicans and Canucks were going to invade and degrade our rich cultural heritage in the United States when NAFTA was passed by Congress in the mid-1990s.

As icons of popular culture in our Northern and Southern neighbors begin to pervade our own marketplace, we are now able to enjoy the fruits of American imitation of foreign cultural phenomenon, like the telenovela, and sadly... Celine Dion.

But bear with me, because it isn't all bad. Check out the newest addition to the ABC primetime slate for this upcoming season, Ugly Betty, which is an American version of a Mexican version of a Colombian telenovela, Betty La Fea.

Keep an eye out for local listings. On our northern border, things are always funny. As Canada has brought us a long tradition of hockey, comedians and ice fishing, the generousity continues as Triumph the Insult Comic Dog visits the great city of Montreal, Quebec.

Enjoy the rich benefits of unhindered trade in North America and share in the hospitality of our neighbors!
